2017 Round Up

It's not that I have been idling my time away during the past 6 weeks

Had some Christmas sewing to finish up

Started these ..... ages ago
Then there was the Birthday cake for little Miss  and 12 dozen Mince pies (in the first batch!!)

And a Santa painting session with my girlies

 Some Childcare commitments down 'Sarf
Where Pooh Sticks is always a favourite

And then the un-damming of the stream because the sticks got rather large 😟

The receipt of my Designer badge from the Brownies ( for my work in repairing and remaking the dress for Big Duck )
So proud😊
A lovely surprise parcel (that you know is going to be good when the first thing you see is a box of Betty's tea) from a friend made over on Instagram

Never actually met this lovely lady but looks at the goodies that she sent!

The opening of this years Advent Calendar sent from my lovely baby sister

And then four extra adults and three children (under 4) spent 5 days with us, just before Christmas !!

It was lovely, noisy, exhausting and lovely.

When they all went off to the in- laws on Christmas Eve,  a quick blitz on the house and a couple of hours just staring at the walls 💆before a quiet Christmas day for us.

Boxing Day saw a jaunt over to Naseby to view the Civil War Battlefield

A cold but beautiful and very interesting day that is right on our door step!

Then a sorting of fabrics for a gift for Sister 2

Then we were at New Year!  More childcare whilst the young 'un's partied
and a visit to the coast to return said littlies
A lovely meal on the sea front
 with desert of course
And then a nice walk on the longest pleasure pier in the world
 half way!!
But we made it to the end, despite the changeable weather

As a child, I was always afraid of waking on a pier. I was terrified that I would fall through the gaps and have many pictures of me clinging to my Dad's neck.
It still makes me nervous!!!
Then back up the promenade and home for a cuppa
the Pier in the distance

We live about as far away from the sea as anywhere in the UK but water featured a lot during another long walk this season
The river running very high
and some flooding

And the sewing?  Twin bed runners. All done and dusted

All using scraps

 Both with pieced backs

A sort out of more scraps to be sent off to a friend
tidies my box up a bit 😉

And the runners all wrapped and in my suitcase ready for delivery ....... soon.

  1. Wow, you've certainly been busy, with family, craft, outings and walks. Well done with the lovely quilts made from scraps. I've been toying with the idea of gifting some of my scraps too & clearing out craft stuff in general. Way too much at my age, that I will never get done. Lovely to see a post pop up. Happy New Year & take care.
